Breaking Free from Old Work Beliefs: Embrace the New Digital Economy
Discover how to let go of outdated ideas and unlock modern opportunities in the digital world.
In the last decade, everything about “work” has transformed. Remote work is the new norm, technology is taking over labor-intensive roles, and there are more opportunities than ever for those who are ready to let go of the old definitions of work.
But this opportunity is only for those who are willing to question and unlearn beliefs that no longer serve them.
Along the way, you may have picked up some ideas about what it takes to succeed, like:
You need startup capital.
You need tons of experience.
You need a massive following.
You need a physical product or location.
You have to obsess over profit margins, operating costs, and supply chains.
Let’s be clear: none of this is true.
Or if you’re already familiar with the digital world, you might think:
You have to look a certain way to build an audience.
You need to be super wise or produce content that rivals Jordan Peterson’s level of insight.
You need to be an expert writer, speaker, or video producer with top-of-the-line equipment.
Again, not true. Building something valuable is as simple as you make it (even though that’s easier said than done).
In this series, we’re going to dismantle these limiting beliefs and equip you with easy-to-follow systems that’ll help you thrive in the digital economy.
Assumptions Are Your Worst Enemy 🚫
Don’t hold onto any belief that you haven’t personally tested. The quickest way to stunt your growth is to adopt assumptions that may not even be true. Open your mind, experiment, and see for yourself what works.
The Reality of the Digital World 🌐
This series focuses on the digital side of things.
Yes, physical products can be amazing, but having a digital foundation is almost a no-brainer. Why?
It costs almost nothing to create.
Digital products can have profit margins over 90%.
They’re infinitely replicable. Once you know a product works, it’s all about increasing the traffic to it.
And the best part? You don’t need a physical storefront. There are free, no-code tools that do everything from hosting your product to booking calls. It’s like having an invisible team working for you, around the clock.
Here are some examples:
Gumroad for hosting eBooks, courses, and memberships.
Calendly for setting up a call schedule and booking link.
Carrd for building simple landing pages to showcase your offers.
ConvertKit for building and managing an email list.
Social Media Platforms for audience-building and free traffic.
Most of these tools only charge when you’re making enough money to justify it.
But What About Experience? 📈
Do you need to be an expert to start? Not at all. In fact, it’s often more relatable to be a beginner teaching other beginners. A huge part of building an audience is educating others to reach where you are, one step at a time.
If you just listened to a great podcast on marketing, share what you learned! Tag the podcaster, build credibility, and you might even get noticed. That’s how I ended up collaborating with people I used to look up to.
You’ll learn more about this in our “Learning in Public” module.
From Zero to Infinity 🔄
You can literally start from zero and scale as far as you’re willing to take it. When doubts creep in, examine them, maybe even write about them online. This process can help you understand your own blocks and learn to move past them.
The Age of Information 💡
One major misconception is that information doesn’t have value. But information is everything. Every part of our day-to-day experience, every connection, every interaction — it’s all information exchange. This means anything can be turned into valuable content.
The key is avoiding information overload for your audience. That’s where frameworks like APAG (Attention, Problem, Action, Goal) come in — they help you create content that’s engaging and memorable.
The Shift from Corporation to Community 🌱
People are tired of traditional structures. They’re craving real connection, and trust in big corporations is declining. Today, small brands with a handful of dedicated people can earn multiple seven figures a year. Personal brands that understand their audience can bring in $20K per month with just a few hours of work each week.
Think about what you really want. Do you dream of a giant company with hundreds of employees? Or would you rather do what you love, build meaningful connections, and earn enough to live life on your terms?
To me, it’s obvious. My mission is to educate, inspire, and empower others. I’m not here to create followers — I’m here to create future leaders.
Take Responsibility 💪
Focus on those who resonate with your message. Don’t worry about the people who don’t “get it.” Direct your energy toward those you can truly help, and encourage them to spread the word. This is how you start to leave a real impact on the world.
The possibilities are endless. You’ve got the tools, the knowledge, and the platform. Start small, but dream big. Let’s build a legacy together.
